Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS):
As you may be aware the "Car Allowance Rebate System" (CARS) program is scheduled to begin in July. The program is the result of the recently enacted Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act -- more commonly referred to as the "Cash for Clunkers" bill. This program is designed to decrease nationwide fuel use and to stimulate vehicle sales by providing up to $4500 in dealer credit for an eligible trade in vehicle when a customer purchases or leases a new vehicle that achieves prescribed increases in fuel economy over the trade-in vehicle.
It is Honda’s understanding, based on information currently available to it, that the purchase or lease of the Honda models mentioned below will qualify for a credit under the program if the customer trades-in a qualified vehicle.
The Honda passenger cars with a combined EPA fuel economy rating of 22 MPG or more that MAY be eligible for credit under the CARS program include:
2009 - 2010 Fit – All models
2009 - 2010 Civic – All models
2009 - 2010 Accord Sedan – All models
2009 - 2010 Accord Coupe – All models EXCEPT V-6 MT
2010 Insight
The Honda category 1 trucks with a combined EPA fuel economy rating of 18 MPG or more that MAY be eligible for credit under the CARS program include:
2009 - 2010 CR-V – All models
2009 - 2010 Element – All models
2009 - 2010 Pilot – All models including 2WD and 4WD
2009 - 2010 Odyssey – All models
2009 - 2010 Ridgeline – With 17 MPG, Ridgeline meets "Category 2 Truck" requirements for pickups with GVWR <= 8,500 lbs. and wheelbase > 115 in.
